Bloomberg: Judge Brett Kavanaugh parried Democratic questions and kept his U.S. Supreme Court nomination on track as he addressed abortion, federal regulations and presidential investigations in his first day of questioning before a Senate panel.
Pressed on decades-old comments questioning the Supreme Court’s 1974 Nixon tapes ruling, Kavanaugh said Wednesday that his remarks had been misunderstood. He told the Senate Judiciary Committee the ruling, which required President Richard Nixon to turn over secret White House tape recordings, was one of the court’s best moments.
