Federal Times: In a memo to agency heads, the acting director and general counsel for the Office of Government Ethics, David Apol, expressed concern that “actions by government leadership have harmed perceptions about the importance of ethics” within the federal government, and he stressed the importance of ethical behavior by leadership.
“I encourage you to consider action to re-double your commitment to ethics in government,” wrote Apol. “The citizens we serve deserve to have confidence in the integrity of their government. The public’s trust is not guaranteed. We must earn that trust every day because the loss of that trust is catastrophic.”
