Reuters: Dr. Richard Stone knows a thing or two about massive reorganizations of government health care systems. As former Director of the Health Care Operations at the Department of Defense, Stone helped oversee the transition from the Military Health System to the new Defense Health Agency, which manages the medical care for the nation’s entire military.
Now as the Department of Veterans Affairs’ new Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Health, Stone is again in a position of overseeing an organization experiencing massive changes. Stone talked to Senior Reporter Carten Cordell about the challenge of building a health system that can meet the need of the nation’s veterans.
