USA Today: WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday that companies doing business with the government can be sued for fraud if they fail to disclose significant legal or regulatory violations, a decision that could increase false claims lawsuits against health care providers and defense contractors.
At the same time, the decision made clear that the alleged violations must not be "insignificant," such as a health care provider failing to disclose that it did not comply with a requirement to buy American-made staplers.
