Government Executive: All housing options are on the table to help Louisiana residents displaced by August’s historic and deadly floods, including placing them in temporary trailers, according to the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate said the type of housing for flood victims will depend on individual needs, and could range from placing people in rental properties, trailers, or making emergency repairs to help get them back into their homes faster. “If we need to bring in any type of temporary housing units, first thing is, they’re better than they’ve ever been,” Fugate said during a Tuesday press conference with Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards. “They’re all HUD [Housing and Urban Development Department] approved.”
