Feds escape direct hit on pay and benefits in budget compromise

The Washington Post: You can’t find the word “peace” in the 144-page document, but that is the main benefit for federal employees from the bipartisan budget agreement reached on Monday, near midnight.

If the agreement is formally adopted, it would mean two years of not worrying about a government shutdown, like the 16 days of disruption that hit many agencies two years ago or the threatened stoppage just this month. It means more money for agencies strapped by sequestration budget caps.
