Time Is Running Short for Congress to Pass Tax Break Deal This Year

The Wall Street Journal (online registration required): The bipartisan tax deal kicking around Congress this week is like watching a car on a Ferris wheel. Just when it gets closer, it starts fading into the unreachable distance. And then it comes back again.

With Congress trying to leave Washington by mid-December, time is running short. Now, lawmakers in both parties are trying again to get a big deal done, a Senate Democratic aide said Thursday. Sen. Ron Wyden (D. Ore.) said there was a “growing appetite to find a substantial and balanced deal.”
