Senate leader joins effort to halt Postal Service closures, job cuts

Federal Times: Lawmakers pressing to stop the Postal Service from closing processing plants and cutting thousands of jobs have received a powerful endorsement, according to a postal union.

The National Postal Mail Handlers Union said Sept. 4 that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid added his signature to more than 50 other senators demanding that Congress block the closures and cuts for one full year by including a prohibition in annual appropriations legislation.
