USA Today: A published report Sunday says President Obama is poised to nominate a top female Treasury Department official to the Federal Reserve board of governors.
The story on The Washington Post website said two unnamed sources confirmed Lael Brainard, undersecretary for international affairs at Treasury, will accept the White House nomination. She would fill one of two board seats vacated by female policymakers this summer -- Sarah Bloom Raskin, who left for a top spot at Treasury, and Elizabeth Duke, who announced plans to leave the Fed in June.
