When hell freezes over: How the Corps plans to win a cold weather fight in Russia or North Korea

Military Times: In the past year the Corps has upped the ante in its preparation for a major cold weather confrontation with a power like Russia or North Korea — a fight likely to prove more physically taxing and hellish than the Middle Eastern climes the Corps is accustomed to.

Attention to the smallest of details can be a matter of life and death, and even the most mundane of tasks take longer.

“What you see taking a long time is just day-to-day operations,” said 1st Lt. Wilson J. Fortune, a platoon ­commander with the U.S. Marines deployed to Norway.
