Federal Times: An August 2017 “Continue Your Service to America” veterans hiring event hosted by the Department of Homeland Security has led to plans to hire over 200 veterans to work for the agency.
According to a DHS press release, the hiring event attracted 2,500 candidates with 620 interviewed onsite. DHS has now extended 207 job offers as a result of that event.
“The Department of Homeland Security is seeking veterans who want to help protect American interests and secure our nation,” the event page said. “DHS components work collectively to prevent terrorism; secure borders and our transportation systems; protect the president and other dignitaries; enforce and administer immigration laws; safeguard cyberspace; and ensure resilience to disasters. We achieve these vital missions through a diverse workforce spanning across the country.”
