Flawed FEMA Insurance Reviews in Florida Could Leave Taxpayers on Hook for Millions in Losses, IG Says

Homeland Security Today: Deficient insurance review processes used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) resulted in the agency overfunding its Fiscal Year 2004-2005 Florida hurricane grants by more than $177 million, leaving the government liable for an estimated $1 billion in future disaster costs, according to a new audit by the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General (IG).
