Clinical Study of Flu Pathogenesis in Humans May Help Develop Medical Countermeasures

Homeland Security Today: Although there’s been extensive research of influenza viruses ever since the Spanish Flu outbreak in 1918 that some authorities estimate may have killed as many as 100 million worldwide, there are still many unanswered questions regarding influenza pathogenesis. And with the emergence of the 2009 H1N1 and other novel influenza strains like H7N9 and H3N2v, there have been many challenges in reducing the impact from these flu strains.
