DHS on the Verge of a Clean Financial Audit, Deputy Says

Homeland Security Today: As the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been making a number of changes in the way it makes major purchases, it also has been drawing closer to becoming auditable.

After a qualified audit for fiscal year 2012, DHS Deputy Secretary Jane Holl Lute predicted the department would undergo a clean audit in FY 2013, a first for DHS and a sign the department has come a long way in tackling management challenges that complicate its missions to protect against terrorism and natural disasters while facilitating travel and commerce.
