US-VISIT Going Global

Homeland Security Today: The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) US Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) program, first deployed in 2004, has come a long way since two fingerprints set the standard for verifying and analyzing a person's identity. Today, US-VISIT leverages two of the largest identity databases in the world, captures 10 fingerprints from every visitor to the US, and is already experimenting with iris scanners and facial biometric recognition systems.
