Homeland Security Today: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plans to award a single company with a contract to continue its efforts to centralize physical and logical access to its facilities under Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 12, beginning with a solicitation to be released as early as June.
DHS revealed its plans for the HPSD-12 contract in a presolicitation that was released Thursday, a few months after it extended its contract with the incumbent contractor on the project, XTec Inc. of Miami, Fla. XTec has offered its AuthentX Identity and Credential Management System as a means for issuing personal identity verification cards (PIV) for federal employees under federal credentialing programs such as HSPD-12.
