Times Union: The federal government sent New York and other states a "data sharing agreement" Monday to be used to distribute an eventual COVID-19 vaccine, but Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo accused the White House of seeking to use the process to identify undocumented immigrants for possible deportation.
The data-sharing agreement asks for basic biographical information about those who receive vaccines, Cuomo said, including age, race and sex. Cuomo said the state would provide those answers, but not the details of passport numbers, driver's license numbers or Social Security numbers that the agreement also allegedly seeks. He described it as a pressure campaign from the federal government that amounts to "extortion."
