Government Technology: The Rock Falls, Ill., City Council is expected to act on selling part of its wireless network to Surf Air Wireless when it meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.
At its Sept. 1 meeting, the council heard the first reading of an ordinance that would allow the sale of surplus property to Surf Air Wireless. That company and the city are collaborating on the FiberNet broadband network serving the city. Surf would buy a portion of the city's fiber broadband system for $2.25 million and begin building the network sometime in the fall.
