Lost Count: Washington State Doesn’t Know How Many Self-Driving Cars Are on the Roads
Governing: More than two years after Gov. Jay Inslee signed an executive order to encourage testing of self-driving vehicles, the state Department of Licensing says it doesn’t know how many of them have been on Washington roads.
That’s because the state didn’t mandate that companies disclose information after they fill out a one-page form certifying that they will comply with requirements to test self-driving cars and trucks.
