New Jersey Bill Would Strip Pensions for Workers Convicted of Sexual Offenses

Route Fifty: New Jersey lawmakers this week approved a bill that would strip public workers and elected officials of their pensions if they’re convicted of certain sexual offenses related to their employment.

The bill “adds harassment, sexual assault and lewdness to the list of existing offenses that can cost employees their retirement benefits,” NJ.com reported Thursday.

Already on that list: money laundering, bribery, tampering with public records and extortion. Those crimes must also be related to an individual’s public employment.
