Times Union: The constitutionality of a special committee that awarded state legislators their first salary increase in two decades is being challenged in court.
A lawsuit filed Friday in state Supreme Court in Albany County by the conservative Government Justice Center argues that the process, which resulted in a 64 percent raise to lawmakers that will be phased in over three years, was flawed from the start because state legislators lack the authority to delegate control of their salaries.
