Route Fifty: Total compensation costs for state and local government employees averaged $45.93 per hour worked in September, according to figures the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics issued Thursday.
That amount includes costs for wages, salaries and benefits—including retirement costs such as pensions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the employer costs for employee compensation estimates four times each year.
