Albuquerque Journal: SANTA FE – In the latest round of New Mexico budgetary belt-tightening, Gov. Susana Martinez has directed executive branch agencies to come up with ways to trim at least 5 percent in spending from their approved budgets – and immediately begin implementing them.
The two-term Republican governor gave the directive via a memo and in a meeting Tuesday with Cabinet secretaries. All departments under her control were given the directive, including the Public Education Department and the Human Services Department.
