The Boston Globe: Facing a daunting budget gap, Governor Charlie Baker on Wednesday proposed a $38.1 billion annual state budget that reins in spending for a vast array of programs, including health care for the poor and disabled as well as state employees.
The budget includes some cuts to welfare programs, early education initiatives, and other services, and maintains the same level of funding for most items in an effort to tame what Baker called “the unsustainable spending patterns we inherited.”
