San Francisco Chronicle: It is a sad fact of life is that my age group, 18-to-24-year-olds, do not vote. Only 8.2 percent of us cast a ballot in the last gubernatorial election. Many of my friends say they don’t vote because they don’t know how government works or what their candidates do after they are elected. In San Francisco, many of us feel like we don’t have a stake in what’s going on at City Hall because we don’t have time to go there, even if the issues we care about are being discussed.
