AT&T Acknowledges Charging Governments for Information Requests

The Wall Street Journal (online registration required): AT&T Inc. acknowledged that it routinely charges governments for handling information requests but declined to comment on a report that it had such an arrangement with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

An article in the New York Times on Thursday said the telecommunications company receives more than $10 million a year from the CIA under a voluntary contract for assistance in counterterrorism investigations.
