Health Leaders: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced Tuesday afternoon a proposal to increase the inpatient hospital wage index for low-wage index hospitals, with the goal of supporting quality healthcare in rural areas.
The change was announced as part of the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and the Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Prospective Payment System (PPS) proposed rule for fiscal year 2020, which begins in less than six months.
