Government Health IT: The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT has announced $1 million in grants for 10 community health programs to support care providers who aren't able to receive incentive payments under the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs.
The grants will help these programs to share and use electronic health records (ENRs) with providers, Thomas Mason, MD, ONC's Chief Medical Officer, wrote in the HealthITBuzz blog. The 2009 economic stimulus package allowed providers who demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health records to qualify for payments.
