Government Health IT: By a vote of 240 to 189, the U.S. House of Representatives repealed part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act within a budget reconciliation bill that takes aim at the Cadillac tax, medical device tax and the individual mandate.
The vote went along party lines, with only one Democrat in favor - Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota - and seven Republicans voting against. Peterson, who opposes abortion, voted for the bill that also defunds federal funding for Planning Parenthood.
