Government Health IT: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) plans to develop four initiatives to better to analyze and leverage the explosion of information available from complex biomedical data sets, known as Big Data.
Funding for the programs will come from four new grants, totaling $32 million, that will be used to develop the NIH’s new Big Data to Knowledge (BD2K) initiative for the creation of new approaches, software, tools, and training programs to improve access to these data sets and the ability to make new discoveries using them, the NIH said.
