Overcoming states' challenges in MU stages 2 and 3

Government Health IT: Now that some 90 percent of hospitals have successfully attested to meaningful use Stage 1, providers are turning their attention to MU Stage 2 and Stage 3, which together emphasize the meaningful use of strategies and technologies to exchange patient healthcare data.

Attesting to any phase of Meaningful Use is a tall task for all healthcare organizations as a result of the multiple requirements and optional menu items that apply to both general and specialty healthcare providers. However, it is especially difficult for state-operated healthcare facilities — which have faced a number of unique challenges in their efforts such as new infrastructure required and state procurement cycles — to meet MU standards.
