Renewable Energy World: The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is extending the comment period for information and nominations for offshore wind energy development in an area of shallow water between Long Island and the New Jersey coast called the New York Bight.
BOEM issued the call for information and nominations in April with a deadline of May 29. The deadline has been moved to July 30 in response to request from stakeholders, BOEM said.
The information that BOEM receives will help the agency determine interest from developers on acquiring commercial wind leases and whether leasing should be made available in the call area in the future.
