Oil & Gas Journal: The US Geological Survey’s Energy Resources Program (ERP) will need to recognize and adapt to changes during the last 10 years in the world’s energy production and consumption patterns if it expects to retain its reputation as an objective and reliable information source, a new report from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine concluded.
“The past decade has demonstrated the difficulty in predicting US energy production and consumption…[which] are subject to massive change with little notice,” observed Rex C. Buchanan, director emeritus of the Kansas Geological Survey at the University of Kansas who chaired a committee of 10 scientists evaluating the ERP’s capabilities and future at the USGS’s request.
