Renewable Energy World: The U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently selected the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to compete for the right to develop a new wind energy project off the coast of Long Island.
The 79,000-acre project site is about 12 miles south of Long Island, off the Rockaway Peninsula. A developer will be selected through a lease auction on Dec. 15 that will be administered by BLM.
