Energy Security in the State of the Union

Energy Policy Information Center: As this Jon Stewart segment conveys (hilariously), every U.S. president since Richard Nixon has tried and failed to end our oil dependence. The Executive Branch has always been long on ideas but short on follow-through when it comes to tackling this particularly troublesome and persistent crisis. There’s much speculation that in tonight’s State of the Union, President Obama will seek to counter the current narrative that he is “out of ideas.” For Obama to repeat his desire to tackle a problem the past eight presidents have tried and failed to solve might not be the best way to convey political creativity.
