A Government Shutdown Would Grind Many Federal Environmental Functions To A Halt
Climate Progress: If the government shuts down, it would mean the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “effectively shuts down” as well, said agency head Gina McCarthy. Current appropriation laws run out on Monday, September 30, at which point the government shutters if Congress and President Obama cannot agree on and pass an extension. A shutdown hasn’t happened since 1995 and 1996.
