EERE News: Renewable energy sources generated 14.2% of net U.S. electric power generation during the first six months of 2013, up from 13.57% the same time a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Non-hydro renewable energy sources including solar, wind, and biomass, increased 12.1% in the first half of 2013 compared to the same period in 2012. In particular, solar thermal and photovoltaic increased 56.9% in 2013 compared to the first half of 2012, and wind grew 15.3% during the same timeframe, according to EIA.
