Energy Policy Information Center: In SAFE’s view, the single biggest advantage to electric vehicles is offering consumers an alternative to petroleum and all the nasty trappings of gasoline prices and oil dependence. But as the electrification movement evolves, we observe a new narrative emerging, in which electrification is woven into a broader shift in how we think about personal mobility. As we all know, the United States has a longstanding car-culture—the major culprit to blame for our oil intense economy and high consumption levels (to the tune of 18.5 million barrels per day).
