Government Executive: Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday took aim at a judge who ruled against the Justice Department in allowing litigation by 18 states to proceed in challenging the Trump administration’s controversial plan to restore a long-abandoned question on citizenship to the 2020 decennial census.
“An increasing number of district judges are using purely legal disputes—which should be resolved by legal arguments alone—to depose executive branch officials and order disruptive and extensive disclosure of their internal deliberations and documents,” Sessions said in a speech to the conservative Heritage Foundation.
