Orlando Sentinel: The Florida Supreme Court on Friday struck an amendment from the November ballot that would have stripped control of charter schools from local school districts and put it in the hands of the state.
The court did not issue a written ruling on the 4-3 decision, stating it would follow “at a later date.”
In a flurry of other rulings issued Friday, the court kept on the Nov. 6 ballot Amendment 13, which would ban greyhound racing in the state. It also affirmed for the ballot Amendment 10, which would prohibit counties from abolishing constitutional officer positions such as tax collector or property appraiser, and Amendment 6, a measure concerning crime victims’ rights.
