Education Week: The Senate on Friday confirmed Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court, one day after a bitter battle in which Republicans changed the rules of their chamber to end filibusters for high court nominees.
Gorsuch, 49, is expected to be sworn in time to participate in April arguments that include a case with potentially major implications for religion and education. The new justice also could cast potentially deciding votes in education issues expected to come to the court in the near future, including on the rights of public-employee unions and transgender students.
