San Francisco Chronicle: It's probably not a huge surprise that Stanford reigns at the top of the list of college's with the country's lowest acceptance rates.
The prestigious university in Palo Alto, Calif., admitted only 5.1 percent of applicants for fall 2014. Harvard ranked second with a 6 percent rate and Yale held the No. 3 spot with a 6.3 percent rate.
The list of the 10 hardest colleges to get into is part of U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings of U.S. institutions. The list is based on data collected for the fall 2014 entering class.
