University of Kansas Outfits Residence Halls with Cutting-Edge ResNet
The University of Kansas's newest residential communities will be tricked out with high-speed wired and WiFi services, cable television and 24/7 support . The institution is working with ResNet provider Apogee to provide the technology for its McCarthy Hall apartments, freshman residences Oswald and Self Halls, as well as the new Daisy Hill Commons, a facility linking Oswald and Self Halls that includes both academic services and learning spaces.
Features of the ResNet deployment include:
- High-speed wired and wireless Internet access in all residence halls and the commons;
- Cable television with a wide array of channels;
- Full-time, on-site support coordinator;
- 24/7/365 troubleshooting and support by phone, e-mail, text and chat; and
- Device support for all network-capable devices.
"Housing is not just an adjunct to the university mission, but an integral part of it. Our vision is to bring active learning and support services directly to where students live," said Diana Robertson, director of Student Housing at the University of Kansas, in a prepared statement. "Daisy Hill Commons enables students to take core classes in the Commons classroom, utilize academic services and participate in active learning — just steps from where they live. By partnering with [Apogee], we're able to provide the most cutting-edge technologies available in higher ed today to make our vision a reality."
