States are raising taxes as they face budget deficits

The Golden State boosted its sales tax rate last year from 6.25 percent to 7.25 percent, giving it the highest rate in the nation, according to Berwyn, Pa.-based Vertex Inc., a software company that helps businesses with their tax reporting. Read Article
