Bipartisan health reform is still possible

 

Forbes: Although health care reform appeared a month ago to be all but complete, with the passage of bills in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, the Democrats' filibuster-proof Senate supermajority evaporated in a Massachusetts by-election. The White House then indicated that it would shift its focus to more electorally salient issues--such as banking reform and job creation. However, President Barack Obama pledged in his State of the Union address that he is still committed to overhauling the health care system within the year--and has called a bipartisan 'health care summit' at the White House. This raises questions about the prospects, and the likely shape, of any renewed reform agenda. Read Article
